Art in the Evening
"From A Collector's View"
Lecture and Reception

$25 per member; $45 per nonmember

Shortly after the Russian Revolution there was a flowering of avant-garde abstract art in the Soviet Union and one of the most famous practitioners of Russian constructivism, El Lissitzky completed two portfolios of lithographs - Prouns and Victory over the Sun. How did Fenner Milton, the former head of the Army's Night Vision Laboratory, come to possess the two portfolios today.

Listen to the story of how Fenner Milton acquired this unique collection of prints, developed during the brief, yet vibrant cultural renaissance following the Bolshevik revolution. Step into an all-enveloping art experience with the collection – an exhibition of radical geometry of space and movement uniting architecture, painting and design.

Please join us on September 18, for an engaging evening with Fenner Milton, Vice Chairman of the Phillips Collection Board of Trustees, as he gives us an intimate and engrossing perspective to his collection.

The exhibition is organized by The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.  The presentation at the Timken Museum of Art is made possible by Fenner Milton.
