5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Speaker: Jacquelyn Babush

Ornament a la Mode: Jewelry in the Context of Early Modern Fashion, 1600-1775. This lecture will address the fashions of the late Renaissance through the mid-Georgian eras, and how the jewelry of these eras was incorporated into the sumptuous costumes of the aristocratic classes.  We will discuss how form followed fashion, both in costume and jewelry.  This lecture will be followed by a "hands-on" session, with jewelry of the 17th and 18th centuries available for examination.
