About the Lecture: The great masters of the Italian High Renaissance of the sixteenth century not only brought to fruition the experiments and developments of their predecessors of the previous century but also introduced a range of important innovations that transformed art for centuries to come not only in Italy but throughout Europe. 

About the Speaker:James Grebl joined the staff of the San Diego Museum of Art in 1998 and has served in various capacities, most recently as Manager of Docent Programs since 2015.  He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Classical Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles before teaching at San Diego State University for more than a decade. Since joining the Museum, he has taught and lectured extensively on a variety of topics including classical and neo-classical art, 19th-century art, landscape painting, and the history of the San Diego Museum of Art.
