Art in the Evening

Experience art through special evening lectures that feature prominent art historians, scholars and art connoisseurs from around the world.  Art in the Evening lectures are held in the Museum galleries after hours and are followed by a reception.  Participants will enjoy a very intimate encounter with art.

Portraits of the Renaissance: Three Perspectives

Join us for a stimulating panel discussion examining two Renaissance portraits, the Timken's Portrait of a Lady in a Green Dress (1530) by Bartolomeo Veneto, and Giovanni Battista Moroni's Portrait of Mario Benvenuti (ca. 1560) on special loan to the Timken from The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. Moroni's masterpiece is the subject of OBject lessons: Slice of Truth, the Reality of the Renaissance showing from May 2 at the Timken. The exhibition marks the first appearance of the portrait of Mario Benvenuti in the western United States. 

Panelists include Virginia Brilliant, Ph.D., Curator of European Art, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art; Tatjana Sizonenko, Ph.D., Timken Curatorial Fellow; and John Wilson Ph.D., Timken Director.
