Fourth Annual Art of Fashion Exhibition
Honorary chair Zandra Rhodes and co-chairs Joye Blount and Jessie J. Knight, Jr. welcomed fashion enthusiasts this fall to see the extraordinary fashions inspired by 15 artworks at the Timken Museum of Art. The event took place over two nights with an exclusive Art of Fashion Preview on Thursday, September 22, and the Fourth Annual Art of Fashion on Saturday, September 24. Proceeds from the Art of Fashion benefited the Timken’s art education programs.
The Timken Museum of Art will display six spectacular fashion designs that were inspired by masterpieces from the museum’s permanent collection and modeled in the Fourth Annual Art of Fashion from October 1 - 30. The exhibition is free of charge.
The fashions, which were created by students and graduates from Fashion Careers College (FCC), will be displayed on mannequins placed by the work of art they reflect. They include everything from flowing gowns to ruffles and leggings. The designers and their works of art include:
Sharlene Borromeo – Christ Healing the Blind by Philippe de Champaigne
Jeffrey Parish – Cutlet and Vegetables by Raphael Peale
Arturo Mendez – Kazan Mother of God (Russian Icon)
Ashley Tipton – Portrait of a Man by Frans Hals
Paula Cobian – Mrs. Thomas Gage by John Singleton Copley
Suzanne Lemasters– Portrait of a Lady in a Green Dress by Bartolomeo Veneto
Through the support of Art of Fashion, the Timken Museum of Art is able to continue its great work in providing art education for children, students and adults.
