This talk will highlight the work of the great Post-Impressionist painters working in France in the later part of the 19th century. Timken Docent Karen will focus on how the paintings of Cezanne, Gauguin, Seurat, and van Gogh contributed to the development of modernism in art. Also discussed will be several artists from the Nabis School of the early 20th century including Henri Matisse and Pierre Bonnard. This lecture is part of our ARTSReach program, designed for seniors who live on-site at assisted living facilities in San Diego. The program provides an opportunity to explore masterworks in the Timken collection and other national and international museums through illustrated presentations.
