Art + Design Workshop: Ceramic Candleholders

Image for Art + Design Workshop: Ceramic Candleholders

Discover the meditative art of hand-building with clay in the immersive ceramic workshop, set within the inspiring surroundings of the Museum's James A Lester Gallery. Led by local ceramic artist Aeryn O'Halloran, participants will learn foundational techniques- including pinch and slab construction, slip-and-score joining, and elemental coiling- while crafting a Modernist-inspired pair of ceramic candleholders.

For the finishing touch, select a glaze palette inspired by Thomas Birch's An American Ship in Distress (1841), echoing the painting's deep sea greens and muted sage tones drawn from the Timken's celebrated maritime masterpiece.

Whether you are new to ceramics or looking to refine your practice, join us in welcoming the summer season through artful making.

Workshop fee includes all materials, tools, and light refreshments.
