Musical Masterpieces
Join us in the Central Gallery for our newest program, Musical Masterpieces, a FREE piano performance series combining music with art to enhance the viewing experience, providing opportunities for uniquely talented musicians to bring their music to the public. The series complements the Museum's existing Music & Masters events and curated soundtracks that accompany exhibitions by the San Diego Symphony's Nuvi Mehta.
Musical Masterpieces concerts take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and select Sundays. For more information, please call (619) 239-5548.

Leslie MillerPerforms Fridays & Saturdays Leslie Miller, blind since birth, is a gifted musician who discovered her talent for playing the piano at a young age. She grew up in Southern California surrounded by music as the daughter of accomplished musician, Frank Miller. Leslie's heightened sense of sound led her to copy songs from the radio on the family piano. Over the years Leslie has built a diverse repertoire thanks to her incredible ability to play by ear. Leslie's journey as a blind musician showcases her passion for music and unique ability to connect with listeners via her remarkable talent. |

Lavine CaiPerforms the first Sunday of each month Lavine Cai is an exceptionally talented 10-year-old pianist who took first and second places at numerous local and inernational piano competitions. His musical journey is defined not just by accolades, but by service; his volunteering at the Timken has shaped him into a community-minded individual—a commitment recently celebrated in the Jan/Feb edition of Discover Magazine. Beyond the keyboard, Lavine applies his discipline to robotics, recently qualifying for both the State Final and the U.S. Open Robotics Championship with his team "Chicken Buckets". Whether on stage or in the lab, Lavine is dedicated to sharing his gifts and bringing joy to those around him. |

Kristin SilverPerforms the second Sunday of each month Kristin Silver is a talented pianist who has an infectious and optimistic view on life. In encouraging others to pursue their dreams she states, "Of course you can... don't give up on what you are doing". Despite being blind since birth and unable to read music, Kristin has pursued her love for music and passion in performing for others, using an extraordinary talent for playing music by ear. She currently plays in multiple bands including Jazz Hands and the Steely Dan tribute band, Steely Band. Kristin's favorite composer is Beethoven, and her favorite musician is Glen Miller. |

Serafin GimutaoPerforms the third Sunday of each month Serafin Gimutao is 17 years old and is a Senior at Eastlake High. He first touched the keys in 2019 when he gained interest in classical music.He loves playing pieces from the Polish composer and virtuoso pianist Frederic Chopin. He believes classical music brings out complex and also joyous,pleasant emotions that he wishes his listeners would feel. He also plays bass at his schools' orchestra and in his spare time, loves playing soccer & volleyball. |

Devin Chavez-LevinsPerforms the fourth Sunday of each month Devin Chavez-Levins, a sophomore at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, started his piano studies at the age of 5, under the guidance of Ms. Natalya Panchenko. He loves to play music of the Romantic era, especially works by composer Frédéric Chopin. Devin also plays guitar and bass at the School of Rock and front ensemble at SDSCA. |
