Learn the fine art of paper manipulation in this Art + Design Workhsop: Shadowbox Art, held in the Timken's intimate Central Gallery. Led by California-based book artist Kit Davey, participants will learn the techniques to create unusual three-dimensional house-shaped treasures. Beginners and seasoned artists are invited to explore this unique art form through designing windows and doors to each cottage and artful vignettes nestled inside. The workshop concludes with the application of a simple binding, transforming individual cottages into "pages" that turn like those of a regular book. Workshop fee includes all art materials, tools, and light refreshments.

About the Artist: Kit Davey is a Redwood City, California-based artist specializing in book art. Her work pushes the boundaries of "bookness" by using unusual materials such as mica, acetate, flattened coins and tea bags as pages, and making book covers from shells, coins, driftwood, rulers, buttons and acetate. Kit has taught over 60 different book structures to students from all over the world.
