Foster Literacy in the Classroom through Art
Join us for a FREE professional development program that will bring educators together to explore educational approaches that promote literacy in the classroom. Participants will be shown approaches to using works of art to teach students how to participate in collaborative conversations, recognize and understand vocabulary, use descriptive language, and draw a picture of what they are observing. Each program component will support the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.

All attendees will have a chance to network over wine and light appetizers, explore works in the Timken collection and Title 1 schools will receive free bus transportation to the Timken Museum of Art for their classrooms. Title 1 school teachers will also be able to apply to have a Timken teaching artist visit their classroom to facilitate a free art class (all art supplies provided).
