Artists commissioned to do portraits of a married couple will, of course, create a ‘pair’ of paintings, one of each spouse, but have you ever considered works that are meant to be viewed together because the artist conceived the works as related? Or, what about works by two different artists with a common theme and style? In this presentation, we’ll take a look at various ‘pairs’ that, when seen together, enhance the pleasure of each and expand our understanding and appreciation.
