The Putnam Sisters’ Philanthropy: The Gift that Keeps on Giving!
Docents: Maggi Crowell and Allie Arnel
The Putnam Sisters - Anne and Amy - were American art collectors, philanthropists, and patrons of the arts who contributed greatly to the cultural life of San Diego. Starting in 1935, the sisters began to lavish San Diego with Old Master paintings, making significant donations to both the San Diego Museum of Art and the Timken Museum of Art. This virtual lecture highlights a selection of significant paintings that the two sisters donated to the two institutions that can still be seen in the galleries today.
