This virtual lecture by Timken Docent and USD Professor of Biblical Studies Dr. Florence Gillman will explore the Monastery of St. Catherine in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, widely regarded as the world's oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery. Founded between 548 and 565 AD, the monastery is home to one of the world's most remarkable collections of ancient icons and manuscripts, preserved within an extraordinary monastic compound that has stood for nearly 1,500 years. Join us as we discover the rich history, art, and spiritual legacy of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
