Artists have been challenged for centuries to create a portrayal of one of the most famous religious conversions recounted in world literature, the Damascus Road experience of Paul of Tarsus. In this virtual talk we will survey some of the masterpieces which present the formerly headstrong Paul as he was struck down in those very moments when his denial of the resurrection of Jesus transformed into his belief. Join us for this virtual talk by Timken docent Dr. Florence Gillman (Professor Emerita of Biblical Studies at the University of San Diego) and author of the recent book Brothers and Sisters: Paul in the Liturgy (Chicago: Liturgy Training Publications, 2024).
Note that you will be muted upon entry and that this talk is being recorded as well as live-streamed. Please save all questions for the end.
