Seascapes typically depict views at sea or views from the shore with oceans, beaches, coastlines, ships at sea, and nautical subjects in the art. This docent-led presentation will explore some of the seascapes in the Timken collection and shed light on how the rise of the Golden Age of Sail and the European colonial expansion of the 16th and 17th century led to the development of the seascape art form.
